"Vulture Culture"
The Alan Parsons Project returns this week on WSVNRadio, with their 1985
release, Vulture Culture. The collection of songs from this release was
originally to appear on their previous album, Amonia Avenue, being a
2-disc set. These songs would later surface on their next album, as the
"Project" sound clearly defines well-production sound, incredible instrumentation,
and excellent vocals.
There weren't any big hits from this release, yet the big production sounding
"Let's Talk About Me" could easily receive some decent radio airtime.
Fans of the song "Eye In The Sky" will enjoy "Separate Lives;"
where it almost songs like the famous hit, yet faster.
A nice mellow Pop sound is on "Days Are Numbers (The Traveller)."
Likewise, "Sooner Or Later" is another good Pop rocking song.
The title track is another big production sounding song, as well as the
instrumental "Hawkeye."
The next two sounds compares to the later years of Pink Floyd, primarily
fronted by David Gilmour: "Somebody Out There" and "The Same Old
Sun."
The distinct sound of the Alan Parsons Project continues great entertaining
music. Some of the songs do have comparisons to Pink Floyd/David Gilmour, and
even the later years of the Moody Blues and Electric Light Orchestra. All in
all, Vulture Culture is a good album to listen to, for Pop and Rock fans
alike.
